A Simple, Do-it-yourself Cake? Yes, Please!
I absolutely Love to Plan and Decorate for Parties, and my Favourite is to come up with Fun DIY Decorations, Games, and Treats.
I’m definitely not a Baker. After all, I’m a parent to three adorable Kids, and Fancy Cakes take time. But I do have several Cake Hacks that are Fast and Easy. They’re also Delicious and so much fun for the Birthday Boy or Girl!
The Cake Hack I’m sharing with you today is my Pull-Apart Cupcake Cake. This Cake has a Special place in my Heart, because we made it for Paige’s 1st Birthday.
We needed a cake for her to take to Kindy to share with her Friends. It needed to be Easy as I was working and needed my partner, Beau to make it. And it had to be cool because that's how we roll.
I had seen some Awesome Dress Pull Apart Cakes and thought we could adapt it a little for Paige's Cake.
Here’s How We Did It:
Number 1 Pull-Apart Cupcake Cake
This Pull-Apart Cupcake Cake has ingredients that are easy to find and simple directions!
Ingredients and Supplies
- 24 Mini Cupcakes (we bought ours from Coles)
- Frosting in a Flavour and Colour of your choice (we used Betty Crocker Ready Made Frosting, and just added a little Gel Icing to Colour)
- Candies for Decorations (if you want!)
- Large piece of Cardboard
- Aluminum Foil
Directions
Cover a piece of cardboard in aluminum foil. This allows you a nice, hard surface for arranging your Pull-Apart Cupcake Cake and for easy transport.
Next, just arrange the Cupcakes into the shape you would like to create. Our shape was the Number 1.
Then pipe coloured frosting in circles onto each cupcake, slightly wider than the cupcakes. Next pipe a small swirl in between each of the cupcakes.
Once all of your icing is piped onto the Cupcakes, add some decoration. We added some Satin Ribbon and a Craft Buckle and Voila! We had a Gorgeous Cake perfect for Paige to share with her Little Friends.
Pull-Apart Cupcake Cake Variations
Since it was Paige’s 1st Birthday, we made the Number 1. But you could create a Pull-Apart Cupcake Cake in any number, or any shape, that you want! Using Cupcakes makes it so much easier to Create Fun Designs that Guests will Love at your Celebration.
You could use these same techniques to make a Pumpkin for a Halloween Party or a Pink Bow for a Baby Shower.
We used Mini Cupcakes because they were the perfect size to share with Paige’s Friends at Kindy, but you could use larger cupcakes if you want. You could even bake your own in Fun Flavours!
You can also Customise your Pull-Apart Cupcake Cake by adding Sprinkles, Candies, and other Edible Decorations. Feel free to also replace the Aluminum Foil with a Wrapping Paper or Coloured Paper of your choice!
