Delicious Mud Cake Hack with Nutella Drip Icing
I love to make my own Cakes, but as a Busy Mum of 3 Monkeys, I have very limited time for fancy, time-consuming Baking and Decorating. And all too often, when I try to take a shortcut and use a Packet cake mix, the result is quite dry.
For amazing but easy Cakes, I’m so thankful for this Cake Hack! You know, the $5 Mud Cakes from Coles that you jazz up and turn into a Cake that looks like you put in a lot more time and effort than you actually did?
When I first attempted this Cake Hack, Baby Paige was only 6 months old, and right in the midst of these early baby days I had 3 Birthdays in 3 weeks. I needed a way to Create Wonderful Memories without adding too much to my plate.
I figured I would give it a go!
Assembling the Cake
The ingredients are Super Simple. I just went out and bought 2 White Chocolate Mud Cakes and some Betty Crocker Vanilla Frosting.
To put everything together, first I peeled the paper layers off of each cake. I placed one cake on a fancy plate and added a layer of Frosting. Then I flipped the other cake upside down and put it on top. This helps keep the top of the cake flat and smooth! I covered the entire Cake in a Delicious layer of Frosting.
No baking, no cooling, and no dishes to clean! It doesn’t get much Better than a cake hack like this!
Adding Icing and Decorations
Next it was time for the Icing. We are Huge Nutella fans in this house, our kids love Chocolate Spoons at their parties, and I thought why not?!
I removed the silver seal and heated the Nutella container right in the microwave for 30 secs to give it a thinner consistency. I stirred it with a Knife and poured it evenly over the cake with some Fancy drips on the side - the cake hack was starting to come together!
Then I added some colorful decorations. To cover the bottom edges I added Maltesers. For the top I added some Large Lollipops, more Maltesers, M&M's and Wafer Sticks.
Personalising is My Favorite Part
When it comes to a Special Occasion, I Love being able to make my friends and loved ones feel really Amazing by making the day All About Them. My Cake Hack was no different. I needed that personal touch! For this one, I cut out the Number '10' from Green Card and added it to some Wooden Skewers. Voila! A Quick Delicious Cake fit for the 10 year old Birthday Boy!
My son was Pretty Amazed on the day and I was super proud of how quick this Cake Hack was to make. And most importantly, it tasted Delicious!
This was another Mud Cake Hack that I made for my Partner's Birthday with Ferrero Rochers, Maltesers, Musk Sticks and Wafer Sticks.
