Gender reveal parties have become increasingly popular in recent years, as expectant parents look for fun and creative ways to share the exciting news of their baby's gender with family and friends. In our case, we decided to celebrate with a "Guns or Glitter?" gender reveal party for our youngest child.
With a small gathering of our closest family members, we eagerly awaited the big reveal. Would it be a boy or a girl? The anticipation was almost too much to bear! But when the moment finally arrived, we couldn't have been more thrilled with the news. The joy and excitement in the room was palpable, and we knew that this little bundle of joy was already so loved.
Join us as we share the details of our special day, and the unforgettable moment that we found out whether we would be welcoming a little guns blazing cowboy or a sweet glittery princess into our family.
Waddle Baby Be?
Organising a get-together can be a great way to spend time with friends and family. To make the occasion even more enjoyable, why not play a party game? There are numerous options available, from classic card games to board games, that can create a memorable experience for everyone. Get creative and come up with some new ideas of your own to add a unique twist to your party.
It was an exciting and highly charged atmosphere as Beau and I had just received the news at our Gender Reveal Scan and were eager to share it with our guests. For this reason, we only had time for one party game and it was called, 'Waddle Baby Be?'.
The game involved inviting guests to guess the sex of the baby, with their names written in the "Guns or Glitter" column. Our children, Donte and Isla, loved collecting everyone’s guesses and were eagerly waiting to find out if they were going to have a little brother or sister.
As a Fun Keepsake, I have included a FREE Printable Template for you to Print at Home and use at your Own Gender Reveal Party. This Memory was Scrap booked in Our Baby Album to look back on in the future.
Preparing Food for a Gender Reveal Party
The Guns or Glitter? Gender Reveal Party was a blast to organise, particularly the food options. I wanted to keep things simple and opted not to bake anything, which worked out great.
Luckily, it was close to Easter, and I was able to get my hands on some Hot Cross Buns that I decorated with pink and blue icing and labelled "Pink Buns" or "Blue Buns."
Another fun item on the menu were cupcakes, which I placed on labelled place cards that read "Cupcake or Stud Muffin?".
One of my personal favorites of the day was the M&Ms, which I split into two bowls and labeled "Nuts or No Nuts."
The matching place cards were just too cute! Check out our guide to making place cards and create your own. During my shopping trip, I also came across Pink and Blue Pringles, a popular craving throughout my pregnancy. They were a fantastic edition to the party table.
Gender Reveal Pinata Cake
Creating a Gender Reveal Pinata Cake is a breeze! Even with only an hour to spare after discovering our baby's gender at the scan, I managed to whip up a delicious treat.
To begin, I purchased four round sponges from the local supermarket and used one as a base on the cake plate. I applied Betty Crocker Vanilla Frosting to the sponge and repeated the process for the next two layers.
Once I had three layers stacked, I used a sharp knife to cut out a circle in the center of the sponge layers, removing the excess. Next, I filled the circular cavity with Pink and Blue Choc Rocks, which I had purchased earlier in the day in anticipation of the gender reveal.
To complete the cake, I added another layer of frosting and the final sponge layer, which I decorated with Pink, Blue, and White Sugar Stars.
What Will We Uncover - Pink or Blue?
After eagerly anticipating the gender of our baby for four long months, Beau and I finally had our 4D gender scan at Precious Previews. As we saw our little cherub on the screen, we couldn't help but get emotional. After the scan, we had to quickly gather ourselves and rush to finish last-minute party preparations, including baking a cake. We were thrilled to share the news with everyone we loved, and the night was filled with excitement and anticipation.
And finally, the moment we had been waiting for arrived - we learned that we were having a baby girl! It was a challenge to keep our excitement under wraps for an hour until everyone arrived, but we managed. Beau and I cut the cake together, revealing pink choc rocks that spilled out, and the kids' faces lit up with joy. We shared a special moment as we watched the 4D scan video of our little girl, and I will cherish that memory forever.
